keyboards and backing vocals
First and foremost, I’d like to say…my motivation for playing music has always been because I love listening to music. I’ve learned the most by simply listening to lots of it!
I first expressed an interest in music around the age of 7 (I think), with my parents initially purchasing me a Casio keyboard and then a spinet piano. I studied classical piano and saxophone until I was 17, at which time I attained a music scholarship to Wayne State University. While there, I studied jazz & contemporary piano stylings and composition under the direction of Matt Michaels (former musical director for Barbara Streisand).
Although my early training lies in classical and jazz music, my main interest has always been pop/rock music and playing in bands. These days, I mostly perform with Boogie Dynomite (a 70’s disco/funk tribute band), occasionally with Detroit’s famed Mega 80’s (80’s retro tribute band), and of course Danny D.
My influences (as far as keyboardists) include: Roger Joseph Manning Jr., David Paich, Steve Porcaro, Donald Fagan, Tori Amos, Tony Banks, Tait Nucleus?, Eddie Harsch, Mark Kelly, Jools Holland, Brian Eno, Mike Lindup, Russ Ferrante, Bill Evans, Ben Folds, Elton John and Billy Joel, etc, etc...

guitar
After two years of begging and pleading for a guitar from his parents Brian Thomas finally got one at the tender age of eight. At thirteen he was in a band that was signed to a recording contract at D Town Records and division of Motown. At eighteen he ventured out to California. After landing a guitar teacher job for famous guitar maker Art Valdes on Sunset Blvd his boss introduced him to the then unknown Helen Reddy. Two months after putting a band together to back her up they quit because her music was not the right style. After another year in LA the band was taken under the wing of the Ike and Tina Turner Review. A contract for a album and promise of warm up band was offered. The band broke up before the album was finished and Brian returned to the Detroit area and has played with many well know area bands continuing to this day. |

bass
I've been around music all my life. My dad was a drummer, who played on a couple of hits in the early sixties by country/rockabilly singer Jack Scott.
I started playing bass at about age 12, playing in various bands around the Detroit area. I met Danny D when we were in our 20's, and we've been friends and occasional bandmates ever since.
I appreciate all types of music, but the Beatles and Motown will always be my favorites. My primary bass-playing influences are James Jamerson, Alan Spenner, Chuck Rainey, and Pino Palladino.
I'm also a full time member of the G-Daddys, a cover/variety band that performs all around the Detroit area. |
